This particular recipe has been written with exercise and convenience in mind. My delicious choc coconut chia smoothie focuses on foods that you’d have in your pantry and freezer and is perfect to consume straight after an big exercise session.
When you train hard for 60-90 minutes, your body is looking for a good dose of both carbohydrate and protein to start the refuelling and recovery process. Smoothies offer just that: high GI carbs (that can be absorbed quickly to be taken up into the muscles), protein, fibre and heaps of micronutrients. Plus, it’s absolutely delicious.
Choc Coconut Chia Smoothie

- Blender
Ingredients
- ½ cup milk, any 125ml
- 2 tsp drinking chocolate ensure brand is vegan if required
- 40 g coconut, desiccated (2 tbsp)
- 7 g chia seeds (2 tsp)
- ½ cup berries, frozen
Instructions
- Place all the ingredients into a blender and blend with a high speed for 2 minutes.
- Pour into a glass, pop in a straw and drink. Enjoy!
